- Tooling Design and Development: Lead the design and development of injection molds for automotive components, collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure the successful realization of product specifications and requirements.
- Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction in the injection molding manufacturing processes. Implement best practices and innovative techniques to enhance overall productivity and product quality.
- New Product Introduction (NPI): Work closely with product development teams during NPI phases to provide tooling expertise, including tool design reviews, material selection, and manufacturing feasibility assessments.
- Tooling Maintenance and Repair: Oversee tooling maintenance, repair, and modification activities to ensure the molds' longevity and consistent performance. Coordinate with maintenance teams to address tooling issues promptly and minimize production downtime.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to strict quality standards throughout the injection molding process. Implement quality control measures and conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve potential defects or issues in tooling or production.
- Project Management: Manage tooling-related projects, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Coordinate with suppliers and external partners to ensure timely delivery of tooling components and services.
- Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the tooling team and the wider manufacturing organization. Initiate and lead initiatives to enhance tooling capabilities, production efficiency, and overall process excellence.
- Technical Support: Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and team members, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols related to injection molding and tooling processes.
| WHAT DO WE EXPECT FROM YOU?
- Education: bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience in injection molding tooling engineering, with a focus on the automotive industry. Previous experience in a senior or leadership role is preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in injection molding tool design, mold flow analysis, material selection, and tooling manufacturing processes. Knowledge of CAD/CAM software and 3D modeling is essential.
- Automotive Knowledge: Thorough understanding of automotive component design requirements, industry standards, and manufacturing processes. Familiarity with automotive OEM specifications is highly beneficial.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to identify complex tooling-related issues and develop effective solutions. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are essential.
- Project Management: Demonstrated experience in leading tooling projects from concept to implementation, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Team Leadership: Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively lead and mentor a team of engineers.
- Quality and Safety: Deep understanding of quality management principles, process optimization, and safety regulations related to injection molding processes.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic manufacturing environment, adapting to changing priorities and project requirements.
- Continuous Learning: A passion for staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and advancements in injection molding and tooling engineering.
