For the Mechanical Engineering Group (ME) we are looking for an engineer who will work on product development of Male Grooming appliances, i.e. Shavers, Groomers, One Blade and Accessories, from initial design concepts to mass production in a multidisciplinary team.
Your challenge
As an engineer you are responsible for the mechanical part and/or module design for new Male Grooming products. You will work on the implementation of new concepts into products that deliver value for Men when removing hair from head, face and body. Together with an on-site mechanical team and/or our offshore development partners, you design and validate the mechanical construction of a part/module towards the final technical product Documentation.
You are part of a multidisciplinary development team consisting of e.g. system engineers, function development engineers, application research specialists, electronic and mechatronic engineers. You are an excellent hands-on Engineer and a proactive team player. You show leadership to meet your personal and business goals and are a strong communicator.
Your responsibilities
As a Mechanical Engineer you are able to:
- create high quality mechanical designs in both metal or plastics, according specification and which are mass producible,
- influence a multi-disciplinary team of product engineers and developers within projects, e.g. challenge the status-quo.
- design according our product requirements, work with risk mitigations tools like DFMEA’s and follow the v-model methodology,
- release components, modules for mass production,
- help filling our innovation pipeline,
- proof that your construction fulfills the function(s) and requirements under all load cases (via e.g. calculation, simulation, tolerance analysis, prototyping and testing),
- detail 3D and 2D files incorporating Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly requirements and archiving in C PLM system (Windchill),
- plan and prioritize your own work and manage the interfaces with other modules/parts – able to work via agile approach,
- identify gaps and helps implementing improvements to bring the mechanical engineering group to a higher level,
- capture and re-use of existing knowledge and share learnings,
- document your choices and proof in a Design History File (evidence document).
Your team
You will be part of the Male Grooming Mechanical Engineering team that consists of around 30 enthusiastic technical specialists. The group is divided into four squads who deliver the product designs for the different programs. The projects are demanding for great results; Male Grooming is an inclusive, divers and open work environment and celebrating success regularly. You will be led by a squad lead and report into the Mechanical Engineering Group Leader.
| What do we expect from you?
We are looking for a colleague who has/is:
- a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, who is hands-on and preferable has experience in the field of mechanical product development;
- experience with working in (international) multi-disciplinary projects, preferably in Business to Consumer;
- familiar with state-of-the-art development techniques and are skilled in 3D CAD and analysis (strength, stiffness).
- knowledge of the design of mechanical constructions in plastic and metal and you are familiar with the mass manufacturability aspects of e.g. injection molding, metal forming and product assembly.
- quality driven. Experience with Design for Six Sigma (i.e. being greenbelt certified) is a plus;
- the ability to balance innovation and practical realization;
- determination in decision making and independence;
- ambitious, has leadership skills and is a team player and you have good coordination, communication skills.
